| Reciprocal Adjustment to visa fee structure between Sri Lanka and the United States of America |

1. Sri Lanka government has decided to issue multiple entry visa at a fee of US dollars 100 to citizens of United States of America valid for five years for business and leisure purposes with a maximum duration of stay at each entry not exceeding six (6) months. 2. In the past the US Embassy used to issue multiple entry visas valid for five years to Sri Lankan nationals for business and tourism purposes. This practice was discontinued by the United States when Sri Lanka commenced levying a temporary residence tax from persons visiting Sri Lanka with effect from 01.01.2002. 3. These steps caused inconvenience to both Sri Lanka nationals and American nationals. 4. After reviewing this position, the two governments have mutually agreed to re-introduce the earlier practice with regard to the issuance of multiple entry visas. |
