Sri Lanka says “Remember  May 2009 as Liberation of 
Sri Lankan Tamils  from  the erstwhile Tamil Tigers”

Tamils for Obama has, consistent with its past practice, sought again to mislead the international community, including President Obama, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, EU MEP’s,  UN Ambassadors and others by asking them to remember the month of May 2009 as a massacre of Tamils.  In their sad efforts at divisive racial politics, the truth is again the primary victim.  They have forgotten to tell the world that  it was their leader, the most ruthless  terrorist leader of the world, who killed three national leaders (Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi and President of Sri Lanka R. Premadasa, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadiragamar who was a moderate Sri Lankan Tamil.  President Chandrika Kumaratunga escaped a bloody suicide attack and lost one eye).  It was the LTTE that took almost 300,000 as a human shield and had to be liberated by the security forces.

The LTTE propaganda machine has continued from where the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) stopped and they are attempting to glorify the death of the LTTE leader through a misinformation campaign.  These organizations have also lost their livelihood after the defeat of the Tamil Tiger Inc., since they cannot mislead innocent Tamils and collect money unlawfully.  It is not surprising that Tamils for Obama seeks to hide the fact that Tamil Tiger terrorists held nearly three hundred thousand Sri Lankan/Tamil civilians hostage and used them as human shields until the Sri Lankan forces saved them.

Today, Sri Lanka has become one of the most peaceful countries in the world, after the Government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa rid the country of brutal terror unleashed by the Tamil Tigers for twenty seven years.  Thousands of Tamil children recruited by the Tamil Tigers as child soldiers have been rehabilitated by the Government and reunited with their parents.  All communities move about freely and peacefully in the country.  There is no terror and the threat of suicide bombers in the country is no more.  Massive development projects are being carried out in the North and the East of Sri Lanka.

We urge organizations such as Tamils for Obama, which by no stretch of imagination represents the entire Tamil community in the USA and which was formed with a ulterior motive of helping a ruthless terrorist organization, rather than supporting a highly respected US President to desist from carrying out false campaigns against the people of Sri Lanka, mainly Sri Lankan Tamils who suffered under the jackboot of the Tamil Tiger terrorist organization for over 27 years.  The world must not allow front organizations to spread hatred and terror in other countries since they failed in their attempt to bloody a democratic nation, Sri Lanka
