Several expatriate Sri Lankans and Americans of Sri Lankan origin have inquired from this Mission whether they could express their gratitude to the Security Forces of Sri Lanka for their sacrifices in safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country, and protecting the lives of innocent civilians. They have indicated a desire to contribute towards the welfare of the Security Forces and their families.
In response to such queries, this Mission, in consultation with the authorities in Sri Lanka, has made arrangements to accept financial contributions to the “Ranaviru Sevana”. All contributions received for this purpose will be acknowledged by the Mission with an official receipt, and the funds received will be transmitted to the “Ranaviru Sevana” immediately, through official channels.
“Ranaviru Sevana” is a rehabilitation centre established in 1988 which provides medical care, physiotherapy, vocational training and psychological care for soldiers.
Contributions could be sent by mail or handed over to the Permanent Mission. Cheques should be drawn in favour of the “Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations”.
For further information in this regard, please contact Mrs. Muditha Halliyadde, First Secretary on (212) 986 7040.
