The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnyake visited the United Nations recently. During his visit, he paid high level visits to several key figures within the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping, including Mr. Herve Ladsous (Undersecretary General for the Department of peacekeeping), Ms. Ameera Haq ( Undersecretary General for the Department of Field Support) and Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahamad ( Military Adviser).
The commander was accompanied by H.E. Major General Shavendra Silva, Colonel Udaya Kumara and the commander’s Military Assistant, Colonel Najeeva Edirisinghe. H.E. Dr. Palitha Kohona was also present during the discussion with Mr. Ladsous.
During his meetings the commander briefed the UN officials on the history of Sri Lanka’s contributions to UN peacekeeping operations and the present status of contributions.
