For the first time in New York, The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations conducted a “Katina Cheevera Sampradaya” at its premises recently. Venerable monks graced the occasion and chanted “pirith” to bless the chancery premises and the attendees. Addressing the gathering, the venerable Kondanja thero highlighted the importance and the History of this ancient tradition and stated that this is the first time he has witnessed this tradition in the United States. The ceremony was also attended by a cross section of the Sri Lankan expatriate community in New York.
